TUTORIAL REQUEST #2 FROM ME!!!
I know, you can hardly contain your excitement. I've admired #50 for a long time. I love the orange, the yellows, the clarity. You've got this cool yin/yang thing with the color. It's strong enough to feel like a punch of color but not oversaturated. It's very appealing and I'd love to know how you achieved it.

Once you've answered THESE questions (mwahaha) I want to ask you about your larger format graphics. :)

Re: TUTORIAL REQUEST #2 FROM ME!!!
heehee, of course you'd ask me for my Star Wars coloring! I use it (or a variation) on all my SW caps, pretty much, so you'll be getting a tutorial for basically all of these icons. A big part of that particular one turning out so awesome is that the cap just rocked. And you'll see the rest in the tutorial!

And I'll tell you right now that the larger format graphics are more of same, with a slightly more liberal use of "lighten" and textures. Lighten is like the best thing ever when it comes to blending, especially since I tend to stick things on dark backgrounds. I also get more relentless about my graphic telling a story when I'm doing larger format things... I can't let it just be pretty for pretty's sake.

Re: TUTORIAL REQUEST #2 FROM ME!!!
Oops -- didn't mean to ask for the keys to the castle. It's just that I've admired the coloring on that icon since I first saw it. I recently saw a tutorials of yours that has like a billion steps and at the end you said something like, "don't even think of asking for the PSD; I wrote it out for you so use it." I, of course, wanted to ask for the PSD because I find it entirely adorable how MANY variations you go through in making an icon. Takes my breath away -- and gives me comfort to know that I'm not the only one who can obsess over 1K pixels.

I'm on board for the storytelling. I think that's one reason haven't yet tried larger format graphics. I don't have a story to tell that involves a larger canvas. Or so I think. Not to mention that making wallpapers seems to require making 15 versions of the graphic to fit all the screen resolutions out there. At least an icon is only one size.

I ♥ you, bb!
